A Thing

What is a Thing?

A thing is a thing that is like one thing, but equally unlike another thing.

Some may consider this confusing. Should you find yourself confused, simply note that this is just an example page.
It only serves as proof that Brandon can correctly format this page for a web certification.

What can I do with a Thing?

You would be surprised. A thing can do a large number of things.

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Solve World Hunger
  • Stop Climate Change
  • Unravel The Fabric Of The Universe
  • Etc.
Another Thing

Why is this here?

I needed to create some projects for my GitHub account that show some form of competency.

This is formated like a technical document for a project. Not very pretty, but I had no desire to spend ages making micro-adjustments.

Needless to say, I wasted most of my time filling out the content of this stupid page.

For Example:

if *insert code here*:   print("The answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42.")

You wind up with an error if you ignore the smaller segments of HTML:

Another Example:

BIG Error!

if 6 > 7: print("7 has poor accounting skills.")

Being a programmer has some benefits.

A Third Example:

if 1 = 1:  print("The universe is simulated.")

These sample projects are dull, so I have to make my own entertainment.

Controversial Thing

None of this matters.

This is just a sample project.

All that you care about is if I can do my job.

This silly page exists simply to prove that I can.

Question: Answer:
Why do you program? I'm already pale.
But seriously? I just like computers.
It's a bit dull, right? Sometimes, but it's usually fun.
So why do it? I like to make the Internet interesting.
You think this is interesting? Well, yeah. I created it.
Isn't that a bit egocentric? All forms of creativity are a bit selfish.
Okay, so what do you work on? I like to research how people use the Internet.

Getting some answers

I've been doing some academic research on how the world uses Reddit everyday.

Why?

Millions of people use Reddit every day.

I can use it to see
their interests and chart trends.
Only Thing You Need To Know

This is just a model.

Obviously I know how to be a web-developer. I know:

  • HTML
  • CSS

What about PHP?

Here we go. The PHP question.
Yeah, I know how to use PHP. It's ancient and not too complex (usually).
Look, we can debate syntax for ages, but if it works and it has proper comments, do you care?

For Example:

I tend to use StackOverflow and Google.

The answer is there.
Should I make it from scratch and waste hours\have errors or move forward with the current project?

Put a problem in front of me and I'll find the solution.
Knowing the fundamentals is important, but you don't bake bread from scratch every time, right?
I have a firm grasp on syntax and documentation, so that should be good enough to do whatever job you need.

Sorry

Look, I care about efficiency.
My time is best spent getting things done.
Yeah, you need people who know how to do everything from a blank slate.
I'm the one that can do what they do in a third of the time, understand the code, and move on.

I'm average.

Maybe above-average. Depends on the situation or project.

I know my limits. I'm not going to make grand claims about my skillset.

I like to foster personal improvement. That's the reason for these goofy projects.

Hopefully my portfolio is good enough. I think it is.
